Emerging Minority Leaders Conference

Emerging Minority Leaders Conference

The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference (EML) is designed to build the leadership skills of emerging ethnic minority leaders at every level of PTA as well as offer others working in minority communities’ useable information and resources to better engage in communities of color.

Today’s PTA leaders deal with difficult issues facing families, schools and communities, especially during these ever-changing economic times.  The Nevada Emerging Minority Leadership Conference strives to recognize the significance of diverse minority leaders, to create opportunities for these leaders to connect, and to galvanize their efforts.  The vital mission of the PTA is to bring homes, schools and communities together to achieve the greatest impact for children.   PTA is committed to developing a leadership base that is reflective of the diversity of America’s schools and the Emerging Minority Leaders Conference is but one way to ensure that PTA moves closer to fulfilling our vision of making every child’s potential a reality.

The Leadership Conference is being held in conjunction with Nevada PTA’s 72nd Annual State Convention on April 26-28, 2012.  The Convention will include a variety of workshops and General Sessions featuring wonderful guest speakers as well as a Reception and Silver Star Banquet on Saturday evening. Your registration price entitles you to attend any of the workshops available.

On Saturday, April 28, Nevada PTA is holding a Parent Resource Expo from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  This event is FREE to the public and will feature a variety of vendors offering information about assemblies, community organizations and fundraisers.  Please plan to take advantage of this opportunity, as well.  In addition Nevada PTA will be hosting a Town Hall meeting with school district superintendents from across Nevada as well as the Chancellor for Nevada Higher Education.  The Town Hall will take place from 3:15pm – 4:30pm.

If you would like to attend Convention, you may register for the full convention or for Saturday only; please see the registration form for pricing or Nevada PTA’s website, www.nvpta.org, for details about workshops and Convention.

Sincerely,

John Kirtley
