Nevada PTA Resolutions 2010-2011

Why We Lobby

Fulfilling Our Mission as Advocates

Part of PTA’s mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children. As a grassroots lobbying organization, Nevada PTA’s strength lies in its numbers and in the fact that we have no vested interest other than the best interest of children.

Nevada PTA is part of the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation. Our members represent the ethnic diversity of our nation, and they come from the ranks of traditional families, single-parent households, blended families, grandparents, and other caring adults. Together, we continue to serve as the conscience of the country for children and youth.

Nevada PTA and its members have advocated for class size reduction, full-day kindergarten, parent release time for school activities, school bus safety belts, dedicated technology monies, immunization, full funding for K-12 education and parent involvement in all decision making processes affecting our children, and many, many other areas affecting our children and families.

You can make a difference in the life of your child and the lives of ALL children by learning how to be an advocate at your school, at your school district and at the state legislature or anywhere decisions are being made that effect children. It is easy and very rewarding. What you do today may have an impact on the lives of children and families for many years to come.
